LopiTalk combines a discussion forum with a map and is designed to support open and constructive conversations about space.
It enables residents to actively participate in the consultation process. Participants can view project plans, express opinions, comment on planning proposals, share ideas, and communicate directly with other residents, officials, and experts.
You decide on the level of access—from viewing content only to full participation in discussions.
LopiTalk is a PPGIS tool (learn more about PPGIS here) that integrates spatial data with participatory processes, enabling residents to become genuine co-creators of decisions concerning their immediate environment.
How does it work?
Respondents see a map with marked proposed actions and can actively take part in the discussion: they can add their own ideas, rate existing solutions, comment on them, and ask experts questions.
The range of available features depends on the project creator’s settings: from full access to creating comments and new proposals to a limited presentation-only mode.
What does LopiTalk enable?
- better understanding of arguments for and against.

- resolving contentious issues (e.g., legal, environmental, or technical).

- Educating and building consensus through open dialogue and expert explanations.
LOPI Ask versus LOPI Talk
LopiAsk is an individual geo-survey in which participants answer questions independently, without interaction with other respondents.
In contrast, LopiTalk resembles a discussion forum and enables open conversation, commenting, and the exchange of opinions, while allowing moderation of participants’ access levels.
Where LopiTalk excels?
LopiTalk is particularly helpful for consultations on spatial development plans, infrastructure changes, and projects related to urban greenery. It is effective wherever dialogue, public debate, or the collection of residents’ ideas is needed.
Depending on the purpose of the consultation you can choose one of three LopiTalk modes in the admin panel.
This allows you to tailor LopiTalk to the project stage and the type of data you need.
Collect ideas and engage in dialogue.
Enable participants to co-create projects and share their own ideas.
In open mode, respondents have full freedom: they can submit their own proposals and ideas, as well as comment on and rate top-down proposals or ideas from other participants.
This model works especially well in the early stages of planning, when building a vision and gathering a wide range of proposals from residents is important.
Consult on ready-made solutions.
Collect opinions and comments on specific proposals.
In the partially closed mode, residents can view proposals developed by officials or other LopiTalk creators and are able to rate and comment on them. However, respondents cannot add their own proposals.
It is also highly effective for consulting on finalized projects and solutions, such as local spatial development plans, revitalization programs, or transport organization.
Present projects and plans
Show residents the planned activities in public space.
The presentation mode makes it possible to clearly present planned activities in public space to residents. Participants can review already developed projects, concepts, or spatial development plans; however, they cannot add comments, ratings, or proposals for changes.
This solution is ideal at the stage of public review, when the main goal is to transparently inform residents about planned activities and to present completed projects in a clear, map-based format.
