We believe that knowledge and understanding are the key to the best solutions.

Creating better, friendly cities and supporting sound research through local knowledge and our platform.

We believe that local knowledge is the key to understanding communities and the challenges of modern cities.
However, we realize how difficult it is to accurately collect it, to reach a representative group of residents – especially the younger, busy generation – and even more difficult to analyze it effectively.

That’s why our mission has been, and continues to be, to create the most accessible and accurate platform for engaging local communities and surveying their opinions.
We want every city – as well as researchers – to be able, through our platform and tools such as LopiAsk and LopiTalk, to reach out to various community groups, including those who rarely participate in consultations or surveys.

Our goal was not just to create tools for easy data collection, but also ones that automatically and efficiently analyze data.
That’s why with LopiAsk and LopiTalk, access to consultations, surveys and opportunities to express opinions is easy – all it takes is a moment of time and access to the Internet, and the collected data, even in large quantities, is automatically processed and presented in a clear way – with maps, charts and dashboards.

Our mission is also to spread public participation and make it easier. That’s why we work not only with cities and space designers, but also with universities and research teams, participation practitioners – together with them we want to co-create cities, spaces and communities that not only develop, but above all listen to each other, because we believe that well-analyzed local knowledge is the key to smarter decisions and better cities.

We believe in the power of data. We value transparency and support participation and social dialogue.

At the heart of our work is the belief that well-collected and analyzed data leads to better decisions – whether in science, urban planning, civic budget processes, investment project validation, or service development. That’s why we create tools that support sound research, increase public engagement and build trust in public institutions.

Our goal is to:

– scientists had access to modern and effective research tools,
– companies and institutions could more accurately respond to the needs of their customers and stakeholders,
– residents of cities and regions could actively participate in shaping the space around them,
– offices could explain their plans and decisions in a clear and accessible way, conduct dialogue between residents, authorities and experts and thus enable co-creation of space in a more inclusive way.

The LOPI platform is designed with transparency, accessibility and flexibility in mind.
We believe that data collected from people should be accessible and used transparently. Our platform provides participants with a glimpse into the consultation and research processes – visually showing analysis of the results and their impact on decisions. This builds trust and a real sense of co-determination.

It is extremely important for us to spread public participation. We want residents to be not just recipients of ready-made solutions, but co-creators of them.
We provide tools that also allow people to get involved who are usually beyond the reach of traditional consultations.
We enable dialogue between researchers, authorities, local residents and experts – with the aim of jointly creating more friendly, accessible and inclusive spaces.

We come from scientific research.

LOPI was born out of a combination of passion for science, community engagement and the need to create tools that realistically support decision-making processes in cities. It was inspired by a lecture by Professor Piotr Jankowski, who seeded the idea of creating a platform that combines geo-information knowledge with public participation. An interdisciplinary team of researchers, developers and practitioners was formed around this idea, and together they developed the LOPI prototype.

Already the first use of the prototype – during public consultations on the development of one of the city’s parks – showed how much potential there is in digital tools such as geo-survey and geodiscussion. Thanks to them, it was possible to reach a much wider range of residents than through traditional methods. What’s more, the data collected on the map was organized and turned into a report that helped urban planners and designers better respond to the needs of the community.

Today’s version of LOPI is an advanced tool that supports not only public consultation and research, but also finds application in business. We are developing the platform with different audiences in mind – from local governments, to public institutions, to companies and organizations that want to better understand the needs of their users, customers and local communities. With LOPI, it is possible to make decisions based on solid data and a real understanding of the context.

And why the name LOPI? The name LOPI comes from Local Picture – “local image” – because that’s what our platform enables: capturing local opinions, experiences and expectations in a structured and spatial way.
