We believe that knowledge and understanding are the key to the best solutions.

Our mission is to help create better, more livable cities and to support reliable scientific research by combining local knowledge with our platform.

We believe that local knowledge is essential to understanding communities and making smarter decisions in cities. At the same time, we know how challenging it can be to collect reliable feedback from residents and to reach those who usually do not take part in consultations—especially the young and the busy. What’s even more difficult is analyzing the vast amount of data once it has been gathered.

That’s why we created a platform that makes it easier to both collect residents’ input and analyze it automatically. With LopiAsk and LopiTalk, consultations become fast, intuitive, and accessible to everyone — all it takes is a few minutes and a phone with internet access. The collected data is instantly transformed into clear maps, charts, and reports, helping decision-makers act with confidence to make sound decisions.

Our tools support cities and urban designers who want to better understand the needs of their residents. They help scientists and researchers reach representative groups within society. They also make it simple for residents to share their opinions and truly feel that they have an impact on their surroundings.

Our mission is to spread public participation and make it more accessible. Together with municipalities, universities, and participation practitioners, we strive to ensure that cities and public spaces not only grow but also become places where communities truly listen to one another. We believe that every voice matters and that wisely applied local knowledge leads to better, more inclusive, and more open cities.

We believe in the power of data. We value transparency and support participation and social dialogue.

At the core of our work lies the belief that well-collected and well-analyzed data leads to better decisions—in science, urban planning, participatory budgeting, investment validation, and service development. That’s why we create tools that foster reliable research, increase civic engagement, and build trust in public institutions.

Our goal is to ensure that:

  • researchers have access to modern and effective research tools,
  • companies and institutions can better respond to the needs of their clients and stakeholders,
  • Residents actively co-create their surroundings,
  • `public authorities clearly and accessibly explain their plans and decisions, and co-create spaces in a more inclusive way.

The LOPI platform was designed with transparency, accessibility and flexibility in mind. We believe that data collected from people should be available and used in a clear and transparent way. This builds trust and fosters a genuine sense of co-decision-making.

Promoting civic participation is at the heart of what we do.
We want residents to be co-creators, not just recipients of ready-made solutions. We provide tools that engage even those typically overlooked in traditional consultations.

Our platform enables dialogue among researchers, public authorities, residents, and experts—working together to create more welcoming, accessible, and inclusive spaces.

We come from research background.

LOPI was born out of a passion for science, civic engagement, and the need to create tools that truly support decision-making processes in cities. The inspiration came from a lecture by Professor Piotr Jankowski, which sparked the idea of building a platform combining geoinformation knowledge with public participation. Around this concept, an interdisciplinary team of researchers, developers, and practitioners was formed, jointly developing the first LOPI prototype.

Its initial use in public consultations on the redevelopment of an urban park revealed the enormous potential of geosurveys. Thanks to the geosurvey, it was possible to reach a much broader group of residents than with traditional methods. The collected map-based data was transformed into a report that helped urban planners and designers better respond to the community’s needs.

Today’s version of LOPI offers advanced tools supporting public consultations and scientific research, with applications in business as well. We develop the platform for local governments, public institutions, companies, and organizations that want to better understand the needs of their users, clients, and local communities. With LOPI, it is possible to make decisions based on reliable data and a genuine understanding of the context. T

Why the name LOPI? It comes from the English term “Local Picture.” That’s exactly what our platform enables: capturing local opinions, experiences, and expectations in an organized and spatially precise way.
